A second half goal from Daventry’s Jack Bowen was too little too late as Daventry succumbed to a defeat at home to Belper Town.
Another challenging start for Daventry saw them a goal down after 6 mins when Danny South volleyed past James Martin from close distance.
It was two down after 28 mins with a goal smashed in from close range by Craig Nelthorpe despite calls for a handball leading up to the goal.
Belper’s third goal came on the stroke of half time when a mistake at the back allowed Jonathan Margetts to round the keeper and slot in to give Belper a three nil half time lead.
Daventry were better in the second half. Jack Bowen scoring from a header on 55 minutes to give Daventry hope.
Town nearly scored a second shortly after when Taylor Orosz finished off a solo run with a fierce shot that was tipped wide by Belper keeper Myles Wright. Another chance two minutes later for Bowen was as close as it got for Daventry as the game petered out to a Belper win.
