Daventry crashed out of the Emirates FA Cup with a disappointing defeat to fellow Northern Premier League side Cambridge City.
On a sodden afternoon, the day began brightly for Daventry who started off the better side and took the lead on 21 mins thanks to Taylor Orosz’s low free kick which arrowed into the corner of the net.
However, instead of kicking on, Cambridge got back into the game and equalised shortly before half time via Ryan Swift.
The second half was one to forget for Daventry as a poor 2nd half performance allowed Cambridge to progress through to the next round of the FA Cup. Taylor Parr gave Cambridge the lead on 50 mins. Tom Hitchcock converted a penalty conceded after a handball in the box from Jeff Woodward before Isaac Maynard and Jonas Kalonda completed the scoring for Cambridge.
With Ilkeston Town winning today in the their cup tie, it now confirms Tuesday night’s league match at Elderstubbs kicking off at 7.45pm
