A frustrating match for Daventry saw a second consecutive 2-1 defeat last night.
The Purple Army took the lead via George Ball’s low strike after 10 minutes. Lewis Burgess’s long throw caused confusion in the box and the ball fell to George Ball who struck low and hard from just inside the area.
The game turned after half time when Soham got an equaliser on 47 minutes. A long punt forward wasn’t taken by on loan Daventry keeper Keelan Fallows and this allowed Ollie Ward to fire into an empty net. Soham’s second came on 59 minutes, again poor defending from Daventry as a cross from deep into the box wasn’t dealt with and it was Ward again who got ahead of Fallows to head in.
Daventry pressed late on, creating half chance after half chance, but with the exception of Jack Finch’s fierce strike on 61 minutes didn’t trouble the Soham keeper. Debutant Mason Williams who came on as a replacement for Taylor Orosz shot over with a couple of minutes left but that was as close as a frustrated Daventry got.
