Daventry aim for a second successive win
Raheil Mehboob previews tonight’s game.
Daventry Town host Didcot Town at Elderstubbs on Wednesday night looking to make it two wins on the bounce after their last-minute winner against Kempston Rovers on Saturday afternoon.
Daventry lie 13th place in the Southern League Division One Central with only goal difference separating them and Kidlington in 11th place.
Saturday’s game at home against Kempston Rovers secured a much-needed victory for the mid table side with a winner at the death, the purple army’s goal coming courtesy of a wonder strike by George ball and a last gasp winner by Luke Every.
Rovers threatened in the second half, after equalising and forcing a way back into the game but nothing could be done to stop a hard-working Town side who dug deep in the last 20 minutes of the game.
Manager Arron Parkinson was very happy with how his side played last time out.
“First as always I wish that everyone associated with Didcot Town has a safe and enjoyable trip to Elderstubbs on Wednesday night which is more than likely our last competitive game for a month.”
I was delighted to get 3 points on Saturday against a good Kempston Rovers side who showed a great deal of resilience after our recent run of results.
After they had equalised, they really pushed on and we had to rely on James Martin and some last ditch defending to keep us level.”
Hopefully we can take so many positives from Saturday into Wednesday night’s crucial clash against Didcot Town. In this league if you don’t do the basics well you will get punished so it’s important, we keep the standards from Saturday.”
