Town fight back to take all three points

Tom McGowan was suspended after receiving 5 cautions. Dean Lukeman was absent after picking a hamstring injury. Elliot Herbert was also out after dislocating his left knee, ironically trying to get match fit, during the Newport Pagnell Town Reserves match. Adam Creaney moved to defence as cover for Lukeman.

The hosts sat in 6th place in the league

It was a bright autumnal day, pleasant in the sun, bitter cold in the shade.

Town started brightly. Dan Childs had a shot that was charged down then Jordan Orosz headed just over the bar from an Adam Creaney corner.

Adam Confue nearly put Town in front on 19 minutes when his daisy cutter from 20 yards went through Quincy Shorunmu’s fingers however the keeper recovered to prevent the ball going over the line.

On 25 minutes, Adam Creaney’s free kick from the corner of the box was headed out for a corner by Liam Rodden. Creaney’s corner is then met by the head of Confue and goes across the front of the goal and just wide of the upright

The hosts took the lead against the run of play on 32 minutes. Ross Harris was adjudged to have brought down Josh Rosser. Jake Sansby scored from the spot.

There was another good chance on 35 minutes when Luke Emery did well on the left side of the box and his cross found Fitzgerald but Shorunmu saves well.

Town were awarded a penalty themselves on 42 minutes when Kieran Fitzgerald had his legs taken away. Adam Creaney’s 10th penalty of the season was saved by Quincy Shorunmu’s. Creaney’s first miss of the season.

The hosts almost snatched a second when Sansby struck the right hand post.

Controversy right at the end of the half when Kieran Fitzgerald was brought down for what appeared to be a clear foul. The assistant flagged for a penalty however the referee ignored his flag and waved away Town’s protests and blew for halftime

It was generally felt in the Town camp that the goals would come and the next goal would be decisive.

Town early pressure in the second half paid off when Luke Emery received the ball in the box. He was sent crashing to the ground. The referee initially waved play on however his assistant flagged for the spot kick. LUKE EMERY was handed the ball by Creaney and brought Town back level.

Taylor Orosz went close when he tried to chip the keeper however Shorunmu managed to take the effort at full stretch.

Town completed the turn round just past the hour mark.

Rico Alexander played a perfect ball down the left wing to find Jordan Orosz and his pace took him away from his marker. He cut inside and after his initial shot was blocked JORDAN OROSZ stayed strong to force the ball over the line to put Town in front.

Captain Ross Harris nearly extended the lead on 71 when his header from a Creaney corner was brilliantly tipped over the bar by the keeper.

Town’s defence again stood firm for the last 20 and their lead was never really threatened.
