With Kieran Fitzgerald and Tom McGowan both missing following their red cards v Buckingham Athletic plus Adam Confue was suspended after picking up his 5th yellow card of the season. Good news was Dean Lukeman passed a fitness test before kick off so he was named amongst the substitutes. Joe Merrill made his first start coming in at full back. Adam Tate and Bayley Lewis also made their first appearances in the UCL, albeit starting from the subs bench.
ON Chenecks had issues of their own with striker Brandon Williams pulling out and former Long Buckby utility player Dan Quigley also leaving the club in the week.
Heavy overnight rain had cleared during the morning but conditions were still dark enough for the lights to be on from the start.
Town got off to a great start and were awarded a penalty when Jordan Orosz was brought down after just 48 seconds. ADAM CREANEY was back on spot kick duty after missing his 10th penalty of the season at Peterborough Northern Star but he made no mistake this time and buried the ball in the corner of the net.
Town went further ahead in the 18th minute, Jordan Orosz had his heels clipped just outside the corner of the penalty area. Adam Creaney curled the perfect free kick and TAYLOR OROSZ rose to head home.
Chenecks so nearly got back into the game when a shot from distance crashed against the crossbar and the header that followed, was brilliantly tipped over the bar by the Iustin Cerga.
Just minutes later and a great team build up ended with Luke Emery playing the ball out to the right to Taylor Orosz and his cross was slotted home by ADAM CREANEY.
Phil Cassidy was unfortunate to pick up his 5th booking of the season and he will now be suspended for the away match at Harborough Town.

Dan Childs was substituted just 10 minutes into the second half after taking a knock on his ankle. Adam Tate come on to make his debut.
Rico Alexander won the ball back in midfield and supplied TAYLOR OROSZ who put the match beyond doubt with a wonderful solo goal, cutting in from the right wing before unleashing an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box
Orosz was unlucky not to get his hat trick when he met a cross field pass, chipping it back over the keeper but a defender got back to clear it off the line.
Moldovan keeper Cerga cannot be left out of an excellent team performance, preserving his clean sheet by making 3 more excellent stops to match the first class stop he made in the first half.

Elsewhere Rugby Town’s match verses Cogenhoe United was called off because of the heavy rain and Deeping Rangers were playing and won in the FA Vase.
This means Town now sit 10 points clear of Rugby Town who have 3 games in hand.
Next week it is third placed Rugby Town v Deeping Rangers in a match that both teams need to win.
This Tuesday sees Town travel to Eynesbury Rovers for the rearranged Quarter Final of the KitmanUK Knock Out Cup before traveling to Harborough Town for a crucial UCL fixture.
