Match Report
Town suffered a mini injury crisis with Captain Ross Harris out with a slight hamstring strain and Dean Lukeman still two weeks away from playing again. Adam Confue was also missing after picking up a 2 match ban for accruing 10 bookings this season. Jordan Orosz and Bleu McNeil are also out injured. Reserves captain Adam Tate came in at centre half and long serving Dan Childs wore the Captains armband.
The heavy rain on the week had left the pitch in a poor condition. It took the best efforts of 6 volunteers to get the match on. Light drizzle was also falling from mid day.
First chance for Town as Luke Emery got his head on a Taylor Orosz cross but it’s deflected just wide.
The heavy pitch was not helping Town’s normal flowing football.
The visitors took a shock lead on 21 minutes after a clearance on the sticky surface was picked up the impressive Adefolan Ademidun on the edge of the box. He set up James Stephenson who found the corner of the net.
Tom McGowan had a shot on 38 minutes as Town started to get back into their stride.
KIERAN FITZGERALD scored the equaliser on 41 minutes after making room for himself in the box and curling the ball past Adam North.
Town suddenly came alive and a great move led to Taylor Orosz flying down the right flank and his cross found top scorer Luke Emery but his first time shot went just wide of the target.
On the brink of halftime, Town took the lead. With the referee playing advantage following a foul the ball broke to JOE MERRILL 30 yards out and he stuck an unstoppable shot that went in spectacularly off the crossbar.

Town were still struggling to get their game going in the second half.
Rothwell equalised in the 57 minute following another uncharacteristic mistake at the back and Tom Gudyer was on hand to tap the ball into the empty net.
Town huffed and puffed for the rest of the match but the visitors held out. They fully deserved their point and became only fourth team to take points off Town at home.

Rugby Town and Deeping Rangers both won so reduced Town’s lead to 10 points.
Town now face Oadby Town at home next Saturday. 3pm kick off before travelling to Cogenhoe United the following week.
